Preaching series resources
Rather than clog up the side-bar of the site trying to fit links in, I decided to put some links to useful resources on a separate post. The resources below are to accompany our current Sunday service series. If you use our link to buy books from Amazon
, the church will receive a small commission.
Sunday Morning - Ten Commandments
The CCEL (Christian Classics Ethereal Library) “is a digital library of hundreds of classic Christian books selected for edification and education.” It is a useful resource for older, non-copyright Christian texts. The books can be read on-line or downloaded in a number of different formats (e.g. PDF, Word) for you to read on your own computer.
View Matthew Henry’s commentary on the whole bible or just on Exodus 20.
View the Ten Commandments by Thomas Watson.
You can also read the bible text in a number of different translations on Bible Gateway.
Sunday Evening - Bible Words You Should Know
This series is an attempt to examine in a simple way the richness of what happens to someone when they become a Christian. Sometimes referred to as the “order of salvation”, we will look at election, regeneration, conversion (faith and repentance), justification, adoption, sanctification, perseverance, glorification.
The best place to find out more is in a book of systematic theology. Again on CCEL, you can read Charles Hodge’s Systematic Theology in three volumes.
Thursday Evening - Mark’s gospel
Read the text yourself in any version you like on Bible Gateway (you can even have it read to you!)
JC Ryle’s Expository Thoughts on the Gospels (Mark)
Matthew Henry’s commentary on Mark.
