Please note: Our Christmas services may be subject to change depending on covid restrictions announced later in December.
Obviously, like everyone else, our Christmas plans are going to be a bit different this year. However, as we are able (rules can change!), we plan to hold two carol services on the 20th December. The two services will be the same, but holding it twice gives us the opportunity to invite more people along. As the rules stand at the moment, we can’t sing, but we hope to listen to the Christmas bible readings and hear others singing the carols.
Unfortunately, we have taken the difficult decision to cancel our Christmas morning service. Due to current restrictions and this being the only day that families are allowed to gather, we will therefore NOT be meeting as planned.
To make sure we can fit everyone in, you will need to book a seat in advance. Just get in touch in good time and let us know how many seats you need, family groups etc.
If you can’t join us but would still like to listen in, you can visit our YouTube channel where you will the songs, readings and a short Christmas message about the good news of Jesus coming into the world.
Our summer garden party is becoming a regular fixture on our church calendar and we would love for you to join us again this year.
As a part of the local community of Laleston, we want to share with our friends and neighbours and to invite you to come and join us for this free event. The garden is ready, we are hoping the weather will be kind and there will be something to do for everyone.
We have recently used grant money from BAVO to update some of our kitchen facilities to help with this event and others in the future. The grant was part of the Suncredit community benefit fund.
There will be food and drink, places to sit and chat either inside or in the garden (there will be shade too!) and activities to occupy children. There will be some live music to enjoy, Christian books to take away and a chance to meet people from the church.
Perhaps you have had past connections with the church. Or you might be new to the area and just curious. Maybe you have never been to Bethel before. Whoever you are, we would love to see you.
In the Christian message of good news, centred on Jesus Christ, we believe we have the best news in the world and we would love to share that with you.
We were trying to think of a snappy name for our new men’s meeting, but all we have so far is Men Of Bethel (MOB) so that will do for now!
We are going to have our first ever men’s meeting at Bethel, Friday 24th May at 10.00am.
It will be a men’s breakfast, with bacon rolls and other refreshments (so don’t have breakfast first!) and an opportunity for men to get together and socialise.
We realise that loneliness and isolation are a reality for many men, especially in their retirement or bereavement. We realise it can also be difficult to acknowledge this and so we want to provide a space in our church programme for men to come together, get to know each other, talk together and we hope too, discuss some of the big issues of life.
We are a church that loves the Lord Jesus Christ and loves the bible so there will also be time to hear someone’s story of their faith and maybe ask them about what they believe.
The event is totally free and we would love you to come if you are able. If there is interest, we will be holding other similar men’s meetings in the future.
We would love you to join us for a special Christmas coffee break on 13th Dec 2018. There will be good coffee and tea, cakes, definitely a few mince pies and possibly a few carols. We will pause for a few minutes around 11am for a short Christmas thought from the bible.
We are holding another soup lunch on Tuesday 6th November 2018 and we would love to invite you all to come. It’s not a fund-raiser or a preaching meeting (although there will be a short thought-for-the-day), but just an opportunity to be together, enjoy each other’s company and some simple food together.
Sunday 23rd September will be our Harvest Thanksgiving services. All are warmly invited to join us as we remember God’s goodness to us in all that he provides.
Sunday 10.30am Harvest Thanksgiving family service
Sunday 4.30pm Bring-and-share tea followed by an informal time of worship together.
There will be a harvest table if you would like to bring a donation of food for the display. The majority of the food will be given to the work of Bridgend Foodbank. At the moment, they are in need of the following items:
Following up on our open day last year, we wanted to once again open the church up to our community and welcome you to a garden party on 14th July.
There will be something for everyone and the event is totally free. There will be food and fun, something for your body and soul so why not come and join us? Drop in anytime from 3pm-5pm and enjoy the day with us.
